Camera Layout: Here's your one asterisk. The camera plateau on the iPhone 18 Pro is a smidge thicker (we're talking fractions of a millimetre) and the lenses themselves protrude a little more than before, to fit Apple's upgraded sensor. For most cases with a generous cutout around the camera bump, you won't notice a thing. But if your current case has a super snug, tightly moulded camera ring or a built in lens protector, it might sit slightly proud or feel a bit tight.

Button Placement: Unchanged. Action button, camera control, volume and the side button are all exactly where they were on the iPhone 17 Pro. Your cutouts will line up, your buttons will still click, no fumbling required.

Also yes. The iPhone 18 Pro Max measures 163.4mm x 78.0mm x 8.75mm, identical to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Same story as the smaller Pro, just with a bigger battery under the hood pushing the weight up to 249g from 233g.

Size Difference: None here either. The frame, the corners, the edges, all the same as last year. If your case fit the 17 Pro Max, it'll fit the 18 Pro Max.

Camera Layout: The Pro Max gets the same treatment as the Pro, a slightly deeper camera plateau and lenses that sit a touch more proud than before, largely down to the bigger battery and beefed up sensor. Again, most cases with a normal cutout will be completely fine. The ones to double check are anything advertised as ultra slim or anything with a built in camera lens guard, since those are moulded to the old bump's exact depth.

Weight & Balance: The extra grams come entirely from the battery, not a redesign, so your case will still sit and clip on exactly the same way. It might just feel very marginally heavier in your hand, which, let's be honest, you probably won't even notice.

If your case says iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max, it'll fit your shiny new iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max.
