Will My iPhone 15 Phone Case Fit My iPhone 16?
Short answer? Nope. Not even close.
Long answer? Well, keep reading (we promise to make it fun).
So you just dropped some serious cash on one of the shiny new iPhone 16’s, and you’re itching to show it off. But wait! Before you go flaunting your latest gadget, you’re wondering if you can use your trusty old iPhone 15 case on your new phone. So the million-dollar question is: Will my iPhone 15 case fit my iPhone 16? Let’s dive in!
Does an iPhone 15 Case Fit an iPhone 16?
Nope, in classic Apple fashion, the iPhone 16 is different enough from the iPhone 15 to make your old case about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Here’s why:
Size Difference: The iPhone 16 is ever so slightly taller and wider than the iPhone 15. We’re talking millimeters here, but in the world of phone cases, millimeters are everything. Even a 1mm difference can mean a case that won’t click on properly or a phone that pops out like a jack-in-the-box. Fun for toys, not so fun for phones.
Camera Layout: Apple’s obsession with camera upgrades continues, and with great cameras come big layout changes. This year we have a complete camera change from a square on the iPhone 15 to a vertical stack on the iPhone 16. Unfortunately this means your iPhone 15 case has the complete wrong size camera cut out to fit the new iPhone 16, if you were to squeeze it on somehow, it would block the bottom camera.
Button Layout: Remember the buttons you’ve gotten used to on the iPhone 15? Yeah, they’ve moved. Or at least, they’ve shifted just enough on the iPhone 16 to make sure nothing lines up anymore. We also have a new addition to the mix which is the camera capture button on the side. Apple does this partly to accommodate internal design changes and partly, we’re convinced, to keep case manufacturers like us on their toes. (Well played, Tim Cook. Well played.)
Does an iPhone 15 Plus Case Fit an iPhone 16 Plus?
It’s a no, despite the similarity in screen size, the overall dimensions have changed just enough to make your old case incompatible. Here’s why:
Size Difference: The iPhone 16 Plus is marginally taller and wider than the iPhone 15 Plus. It’s the kind of change you won’t notice when holding the phone but will absolutely notice when trying to snap on your old case.
Camera Layout: Just like the smaller iPhone 16 this year we have a complete camera change from a square on the iPhone 15 to a vertical stack on the iPhone 16 Plus. Unfortunately this means your iPhone 15 Plus case has the complete wrong size camera cut out to fit the new iPhone 16 Plus which would result in your bottom camera being blocked.
Button Layout: Apple has once again slightly moved the volume buttons and silent switch so they don’t line up the same as the iPhone 15 Plus and like the rest of the iPhone 16 range we also have the new camera capture button.
The Pro’s
Does an iPhone 15 Pro Case Fit an iPhone 16 Pro?
They dont! For those who need the absolute best and that triple camera setup, we get it but your old case isn’t going to fit and here’s why:
Size Difference: The iPhone 16 pro is a little taller than the iPhone 15 Pro therefore the older case simply isn’t going to fit.
Camera Upgrade: With great power comes… a bigger camera bump there iPhone 15 Pro case doesn’t have the right cutout or depth for the new iPhone 16 Pro.
Button Layout: The iPhone 16 Pro’s buttons have been redesigned and shifted, meaning your old case won’t line up properly and it won’t have a cut out for the new camera capture button. No one wants a case that covers the volume or mute switch, right?
Does an iPhone 15 Pro Max Case Fit an iPhone 16 Pro Max?
Unfortunately it’s a no! The biggest and baddest of the bunch – the Pro Max model. Here’s why it doesn’t:
Size Difference: The iPhone 16 Pro Max is slightly taller and wider than the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even the smallest size change means the case won’t snap on snugly.
Camera Upgrade: The camera is slightly bigger and positioned slightly differently. Your old case’s cutout just doesn’t match, and trying to force it will result in blocked lenses and blurry photos. Not the look you’re going for.
Button Layout: The volume and power buttons have moved a tad, which means your old case buttons won’t align and it doesn’t have a cut out for the new camera capture button.
In conclusion: now that we’ve established your iPhone 15 case is officially retired (may it rest in peace, please recycle it if you can), it’s time to move on to a new iPhone 16 case to go with your shiny new phone. The good news? We’ve got you covered. Literally.
